FAQs
FAQs
Is this study still actively recruiting?
Yes, for as long as our consent form is accessible and our sites suggests so, our study remains active (ie at least 2021-2027). We are recruiting healthy controls, ME/CFS and Long Covid
Can I participate if I am not based in Auckland?
We can mostly only recruit in Auckland due to the strict requirements blood samples require to get processed in our laboratory in a timely manner. However, you can still participate, consent and onboard onto our study, as we use this information to see where demand is, or centres where we can arrange blood draws from. We have been able to do this in Wellington, and will aim to do more often once funding allows.
When can I expect results from my participation?
You will find this information explained within the consent form, that as this is a research study, results and data may take time to accumulate. In addition, your individual results wont necessarily be meaningful even if delivered to you outside of a full data set – as they aren’t like the kind of “tests” that are done in a diagnostic laboratory or hospital. For more information, see the consent form.
I have consented and filled out all the information required, why have I not been contacted to provide blood samples yet?
Unfortunately, research funding is this area has always been scarce, and research funding in general, is highly competitive and therefore difficult to land. In addition, biomedical research is expensive, so we are always actively applying when opportunities arise. We are grateful for the generous donations and support we have received, which has funded research support staff, participant recruitment, sample processing and storage, and assay development. We aim to be able to continue recruitment once sufficient funds can support a team for these processes to continue (1st quarter 2025).
Where can I find out more details regarding the research?
Once we have funds to support a research coordinator for recruitment, we will provide more information on our research page on how to get in touch for further information. We will also add high level information on our research page as we progress.
